posted in: Beauty | 11

Eye cream products at department stores can be expensive, ineffective and packed full of questionable ingredients. If you would rather know what you're putting on your skin to help improve it, then making your own eye cream is worth doing. It's super easy to do and you can customize it to your own tastes by using different essential oils.

Making your own all natural eye cream is super simple + fun. PLUS you can customize it by using different essential oils!

Ingredients:

– Water
2 tablespoons vitamin e oil
4 tablespoons coconut oil
2 tablespoons primrose oil

Optional Essential Oils

5 drops coffee essential oil (for dark circles –OR
5 drops of rosemary essential oil (for antiaging)

Directions:

Start by placing a small saucepan over high heat. Add in enough water to cover a few inches of the pan and bring it to a boil. While this is heating up put all of your other ingredients into a clean glass jar. Once the water has started to boil, turn off the heat and place the jar inside of the water just so the bottom is able to heat up. Let this sit for a few minutes so everything can melt together then remove from heat and allow to cool.

To store, either place the cap on your glass jar or transfer the mixture to a smaller glass container to make it easier to get out. You can keep this in the fridge or leave it out as you prefer.

To Use:

Gently rub small amounts of this on the skin around your eyes before you go to sleep at night. Make sure to avoid getting the mixture in your eyes as it can cause irritation.

Benefits:

Every ingredient in this eye cream is beneficial for the delicate skin around your eyes. They help neutralize fine lines, hydrate dry skin, repair damaged skin and strengthen tissue to keep you looking great.

Vitamin E – A powerful antioxidant, vitamin E prevents free radical damage to your skin and also keeps your eye cream fresh and stable.
Evening Primrose Oil – Evening primrose oil has a host of beneficial fats and nutrients to keep your skin healthy.

  1. Hi Kylie, great recipe !!!! I cannot use coconut oil , is there a substitute for coconut oil ? Thx a lot . I’ll definitely try it

  2. I make a very similar eye cream to this but I also add organic sweet almond oil. It’s noted for its ability to reduce inflammation (think puffiness) and hyperpigmentation (think dark circles). Try adding some and use nightly to see an improvement in these 2 areas!

How much of the almond oil would you use?

      • hmmm… that’s hard to say because I’m not replicating this exact recipe. I just happen to use the same base ingredients plus sweet almond oil. I also use green tea extract and licorice root extract which are both great for hyperpigmentation. Really, I think if you just added 2 tbsp of sweet almond oil, and about 10 drops of the green tea extract and licorice root extract (if you decided to incorporate those) you’d have a nice blend. It would just yield a slightly larger quantity though than this recipe. Another thing I like to do is separate my batch and to one half, add some beeswax. This makes a balm which I find is nicer during the day. The other half is really a serum as long as the coconut oil remains in liquid form which I find is easier to manage at night.

  3. How long will this keep without a preservative?

  4. Thx

  5. Amazing, I will try this, sounds promising, and your advice is fantastic, thank you so much. JYB ^.^
