DIY beet root powder makeup tips + recipes

There are so many things you can do with beet root powder. Makeup is one of the most fun ways to take advantage of beet root powder's rich beautiful color.

Beet root powder (available here) is simply dried, ground up beets! It's rich in vibrant color and contains a ton of antioxidants, which is always a plus when it comes to skincare. You can use it on it's own as a blush or eye pigment, but the texture leaves a little to be desired for the most spoiled of us beauty lovers. So a little processing is required to make the most luxurious beet root makeup.

I prefer creams to powders, personally, and also feel that you get a better-for-you product this way. The carrier oil becomes infused with minerals and antioxidants from the beets, which are then more readily absorbed than a powder sitting on top of the skin would be.

But no matter what you preferences, you can definitely get great beet root makeup in many different forms!

You can make your own beet root powder by dehydrating and grinding beets! You can do it in the oven or in your dehydrator. Next, simply use a coffee grinder or herb grinder to turn beet strips into powder for use in your makeup. You can also just buy it if you don't want to process your own.

You can use beet root powder in makeup used from head to toe. Here are some of my favorite beet root powder makeup ideas.

Beet root powder can become very clumpy when it's not processed with an ant-icaking agent. You can grind it back into a powder manually or use a coffee or herb grinder to break up any clumps.

You can purchase beet root powder at Starwest Botanicals.
